Being the Ocean in a Drop

Updated: Sep 16, 2021

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the blessings that life is offering us!

Today I am going to wax a bit metaphysical, philosophical, spiritual, and scientific, or in other words... Quanticismic. Did you know that our greatest thinkers in all of these subjects are and were trying to tell us all the same thing. What could it possibly be? What is it between all of these very different subjects that its greatest thinkers can find such common ground? Normally they can debate incessantly, even publicly fight one another, yet if you are patient, and peel away the layers of rhetoric and ego, you will find they all do agree. This shared truth is both so incredibly simple, and at the same time, so deeply profound. It is simply this:

We are all connected, to each other, to our planet, to our universe, but somehow along the way, we have completely forgotten.

Rumi said it best with his beautiful quote below! I know it may sound ridiculous, even impossible. It seems completely beyond our ability to incorporate anything like this into our daily life in any meaningful way. Yet, if you can figure out how to make this shift in your world view, even a small one, it will change your life forever. More importantly, it will change the world around you as it changes the world within.

So how do we learn to be the "entire ocean in a drop"? How do we come to feel that sense of connection? Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to that question. At least not an answer for you, or anyone else for that matter... except me. You see no one has the answer for the entirety of humanity, but each of us does, for ourselves. Finding that unique answer, takes time, awareness, and a lot of personal insight. But even though we only have our own answer, it is critically important that we not forget we can share our journey with each other. It is in this sharing that we will help each other move forward, and remember.

So what does this all mean? Is it a waste of our precious time to wrestle with such abstract concepts? Maybe. But let me ask you a question, and I want you to really think about the answer and the implications of the answer in your life and the lives of everyone around you. The question is this:

What if everyone on the planet believed everything is connected, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. What would the world look like compared to today?

Think about it for a moment. How would this simple change completely transform how our world functions. What would it do for the health, happiness, and lives of each individual? What would it do for our environment, our planet? Can you imagine what a day might look like living in such a world?

I know that we are far from such a place, but we have it in our power to transform ourselves, and in this way, we can transform our world into anything we wish. To start that journey, we simply need to take a step. One step at a time. First you take it, then get your friends and family to take a step as well. Regardless how far we have to travel, the sooner we get started, the sooner we will arrive, Remember too that as wonderful as the destination will be, the journey itself will be just as transformative.

I said there is no quick and easy method that we can all use to shift our mindset, but there are some very useful tools that have been used by many on this path over the millennia. Tools such as meditation, prayer, gratitude, compassion, and unconditional love will help you immensely along the way. Use them all if you can. So what’s stopping you? Pack all those tools, and let’s start a journey to change ourselves. I look forward to seeing you all on the other side; in a world we will create, one action at a time.
